Storage.co.uk Awards for Excellence 2011/2012

Storage.co.uk is gearing up to hand out its annual Awards for Excellence, now in their second year. Submissions and nominations will be warmly welcomed. Do you know of a self storage company that might qualify? (It could even be you!)

Awards in ten categories

The awards have been devised to celebrate and promote good practice in the self storage industry, and – as last year – they fall into ten categories. There will be five winners in each category, all of whom will receive a framed certificate and winner’s prize pack.

The ten categories are:

– Excellence in Customer Service

Awarded for consistently positive relations with customers, including speed and quality of response to email enquiries, telephone manner, and client feedback.

– Storage Facility Design

Awarded for architectural design (exterior and interior) that is attractive, innovative, sympathetic to its locality, and efficient for users.

– Website Design

Awarded for a company website that is attractive to look at, easy to use, and rich in effective content.

– Social Media Integration

Awarded for innovative and effective use of social media websites, including twitter and Facebook.

– Environmental Awareness

Awarded for initiatives that seek to minimise the impacts of self storage upon the environment, which could involve building, power supply, landscaping, packaging, or siting for public transport.

– Pricing Transparency

Awarded to firms who put prices on their websites. Assessed for simplicity, accessibility and clarity.

– Promotional films

Awarded for the most informative, original and entertaining films found on storage company websites.

– Packaging retail

Awarded for online box shops that are well-designed and easy to use, whilst also giving the customer value for money.

– Self Storage Photography

Awarded for artistic merit in photographs portraying the self storage industry.

– Thinking Outside the Box

Awarded for an innovation which has changed any aspect of self storage, making it more efficient for customers or taking it in new directions.

Deadline

Please let us know if you think you should be considered for any of these prizes ­– or know of a self storage company that should. Maybe you have just built a new self storage facility that is particularly attractive, or has environment-friendly features, or you have received a gratifyingly large number of customer commendations, or have just created a new promotional film for your website.

All year we have been on the lookout for self storage companies, who might qualify for consideration, but we can’t expect to know every one of the 1200-plus self storage facilities that are listed on our website. So your help and suggestions are invaluable.

The deadline for submissions is Thursday 15 September. But don’t wait until then!

As Angus Hanton, head of Storage.co.uk, put it last year, ‘Self storage is quickly becoming a major industry in the UK, in which it’s increasingly hard for companies to stand out. These awards should inform customers which storage firms are really going that extra mile to provide them with the best service.’
