Simon Thompson is a retired Metropolitan Police officer who created Shoot Day Services by utilising his experience of firearms, shooting and the gun trade in order to provide a bespoke service to the shooting fraternity. His last 12 years of police service were spent in the prestigious CO19 Specialist Firearms Directorate.  Storage.co.uk asked him to tell us more.

Shoot Day Services are located in the West Midlands close to Worcester and Birmingham and as such are ideally situated to offer secure shotgun and firearm storage to both overseas and UK sportsmen and women. Our premises are licensed by West Mercia Police and protected by the most sophisticated security systems available; any activation initiates a fully armed police response.

Collection and delivery

In order to provide the best service to our customers we are available 24/7 for collection and delivery of guns by appointment, and being centrally located in the UK we are ideally placed to cover the whole of the country.

To facilitate your shotgun and firearm storage we also offer a collection and delivery service by prior arrangement.

Priced by value

Our pricing structure takes into account the declared value of your shotgun or firearm for insurance purposes. However, a lower flat rate is available if insurance is not required. Payment may be in advance or on a monthly basis, and a 10% discount will be applied for all additional guns.

We are very happy to cater for long-term storage, e.g. for overseas visitors to the UK wishing to leave their sporting guns with us pending use on shoot days, thus negating the need to transfer weapons between countries. We are equally committed to providing short-term storage when individual cases warrant it.

Gun services

All shotguns and firearms are thoroughly cleaned and individually inspected prior to being stored, thus giving us the opportunity to identify any remedial or repair work required to ensure full working order when next required. We also offer a strip, clean and service facility, usually performed at the end of the season. All work is undertaken by our highly respected gunsmith with over 40 years’ experience in the gun trade.

No guns will be released from our possession without the production of suitable identification, and an original valid UK shotgun certificate, firearms licence or UK visitors permit.
